On May 26th, 2026, the Petro NYC team spent a picture-perfect day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The local Petro crew – Anthony Vega, Danny Rivera, Anthony Agosto, Isabel Lopez, Vincent Baldini, and Rob DiBona – rolled up their sleeves for a full day of painting and clean-up to help refresh both the interior and exterior of this long-standing community hub.

Emmanuel Presbyterian has a deep connection to Habitat for Humanity. It sits directly across from the very first NYC Habitat for Humanity build, completed in 1984 with the help of President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter. Today, the church continues to serve the neighborhood as a food pantry and meeting space.

Habitat for Humanity is currently working on two new murals on East 6th Street in Manhattan – now co-named Jimmy Carter Way – and revitalizing the church’s space to support the community for years to come.

A huge thank-you to our volunteers and to the Habitat for Humanity host, Maya, for a day filled with hard work, teamwork and plenty of laughs. This is the kind of project that embraces our goal to make an impact in the communities we serve and makes our partnership with Habitat for Humanity so meaningful.
