For 20 years, an abandoned building in The Bronx, NY stood as an eyesore, creating safety concerns for the neighborhood. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity, this structure is getting a second chance, being transformed into a two-family home that will provide safe and stable housing for those in need.
On May 15th, 2025, Petro team members from Maspeth, NY, Anthony Vega, Robert Rella, Chikhou Seck, Michael Milaccio, Alex Milashevich, Robert DiBona, and Mike Gibson joined forces with Habitat to clear the way for new construction. They tackled brick stoop removal, stucco chipping and basement excavation, preparing the space for essential upgrades like new steps, a fresh facade, and updated plumbing.
Habitat for Humanity has long been at the forefront of building homes, hope, and stronger communities, providing affordable housing solutions to families facing economic hardship. Petro Home Services is proud to support this mission, continuing its ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity to make a meaningful impact both locally and nationally.
This hands-on effort is more than construction, it’s about restoring neighborhoods, fostering stability, and creating opportunities for a brighter future.
A huge thank you to our volunteers for bringing new life to this home and supporting a family’s fresh start in The Bronx.
About Habitat for Humanity
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has
since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand-up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place
they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the
strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
