Helping stamp out hunger, one meal at a time.

On May 10th, 2025, the Petro Long Island team joined forces with Island Harvest for the 33rd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, a nationwide initiative led by the National Association of Letter Carriers and Feeding America. Since its launch in 1993, Stamp Out Hunger has become the largest single-day food collection campaign in the country, helping to combat food insecurity in communities across the US.

Locally, Island Harvest Food Bank ensures that every donation collected on Long Island stays on Long Island – supporting families, seniors, and children in need. This year’s drive was a great success, with food donations surpassing last year’s total of 600,000 meals supported through the campaign.

The Petro Long Island team was delighted to contribute hands-on support. Employees from Woodbury Customer Service, Dispatch and Credit, along with team members from the East and West Long Island Depots, came together to sort and organize thousands of pounds of donated food. Their teamwork and dedication helped ensure that meals would reach those who need them most.

A heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers: Lauren Gonzalez, Denise McKenna, Julie Sisto, Dawn Mihalek, Berenice Santiago, Christine Anderson, Lisa Baxter, Kasey Byrne, Steven Ortiz, Charlene Ramroop, Carol Cavallaro and a special shout out to Lynn and Dave Chiello for going above and beyond!

Everyone who volunteered helped nourish neighbors in need and showed what Petro’s community spirit looks like in action. Thank you to everyone who participated in this vital local initiative.

Island Harvest

Island Harvest has become Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization. They deliver millions of pounds of good, surplus food – much of which might otherwise go to waste – to a network of 570 Long Island-based food pantries, soup kitchens and other non-profit organizations that offer feeding services for those in need. By doing this, they provide a vital supply of food to counter the sharply rising problem of hunger on Long Island.
