Local community sponsorship and charity event news.
For years, our team have sponsored golf tournaments, black tie fund raising events and silent auctions for the following organizations:

Ability Beyond Disability
The Residential Living program at Ability Beyond Disability, which focuses on the abilities of each individual and is dedicated to supporting each person in their personal goals. The organization teaches daily living skills and develops inclusive programs both residentially and vocationally. These help each person achieve the highest quality of life by being as independent as possible while maintaining optimal health, happiness and safety. Ability Beyond Disability has been at the forefront of providing the best and most comprehensive services for people with disabilities.

Marrakech provides a broad array of services to people who have acquired brain injuries. These services are intended to assist people in leading productive lives in the community.

Some of the other important local events and charities we supported this year include:

New Milford Lions
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.3 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world. On September 21st, 2013, Pat Lucas and Chris Seaborne joined local businesses, schools, charities and religious organizations in participation in a Car Rally and Fund Raiser for the New Milford Lions. It was a beautiful day and attendance was high.

Toys For Tots
2012 was the first year we participated in Toys for Tots, a charity drive that is steered by the United States Marine Corps Reserve. We had so many toys collected from employees and customers from all of our locations we had to store them in a warehouse! We were one of only a few local companies to win the Commanders Award for outstanding support for 2012. Everyone on the CT team is tremendously excited about doing this again for the 2013 holiday season.

Relay For Life
In June 2013, a group of Petro employees and families from all over CT participated in the Hamden/North Haven Relay for Life. A 24-hour walk marathon that raised over $2,000 for cancer research.

Veteran Gets A Helping Hand
In February 2013, after speaking to the Veterans Affairs Representative from the office of Congressman Jim Hines, a New Milford customer reached out to let us know of a disabled veteran who was without heat for a second winter. We quickly reached out to Russ Blackledge of Bryant who graciously supplied a furnace at no cost. We also reached out to John Halovatch of Halovatch Mechanical Services who donated time to help Rich Parker, a North Haven Petro technician install a furnace in double quick time.

Mishkan Israel Day Camp
We have supported this great organization for many years which brings unlimited smiles to many unfortunate youngsters who attend the day camp during the summer.

New Milford Home Show UConn
The weekend of March 21st, 22nd and 23rd 2013 was a busy one for Pat Lucas and Bob Fisher of the New Milford sales team, who both took time with John Burns and Chris Seaborne to man a booth reaching out to local homeowners and business owners. Always well attended, having the booth front and center helped focus not only our services but also the community organizations that we support.

Local sponsorships and charity event news.
This year, we’ve had many great opportunities to share good will like sponsoring many local school sports, Little League, hockey, swim teams and boy scout troops to help keep neighborhood youths actively involved in enriching themselves and our community. We also continue to participate in many events and activities to raise funds for great local and national causes, including St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Relay for Life in aid of the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross Blood Drive, supporting the Loft Annual Gala for their community center, giving to the Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank and many more.
